Following a fantastic day of competition, and the first real sun we've seen all season, students, parents and coaches gathered for awards following the 2011 Cape Ann League Track & Field Championships at North Andover High School. Coach Steve Sawyer from Hamilton-Wenham called each scholarship candidate by name and congratulated them for their nomination and for the goodwill their performance excellence and sportsmanship has brought to their schools.

Coaches remarked that it was a very difficult decision to make again this year, many of the student-athletes are of very high caliber and very deserving of the scholarship. The Cape Ann League has always been known for the quality of it's Track & Field athletes, this year has been no different.

After the deliberations were complete Alison Lanois, the standout senior from Hamilton Wenham was announced as the 2011 Gabe's Fund scholarship winner. Alison also won CAL Championships in the 1 Mile and 800m events yesterday. She will look to build on first place finishes at upcoming Divisional and All-State Meets. Alison will attend Dartmouth College in the fall.
